Lloyd Shepherd 1889 to 1968

Lloyd Henry Shepherd, founder of the Shepherd Boats Company, passed away February 6 (1968) at Greater Niagara General Hospital. He was 78 years of age. Born in Beamsville, Mr. Shepherd was a life-long resident of the Niagara District. He founded the Shepherd Boat Works in 1928, and in 1939 opened the plant at Niagara-on-the-Lake. He sold the company and went into retirement in 1958. Mr. Shepherd served with the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the I.O.O.F.

Mr. Shepherd is survived by his wife Edna Kathleen, one son, Howard of Niagara-on-the-Lake, two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Zeita) Hallett and Mrs. Martin (Mary) Bench, both of St. Catharines, a sister, Mrs. Edna Culp of Beamsville; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He rested at the Butler Funeral Home until Friday afternoon when Funeral service was held in the Chapel at 3:15 p.m. Interment was in Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
